The Foreign Affair

I had a great time sailing to the san juan islands on the foreign affair. Captain black taught me so many things about how to sail and taught me stuff about wild life on the san juan island.

The first thing that I learned was how too put up the sail. For this job we had to work as a team because it would be really hard for one person to do this job. Also it would be really long for the one person to put up the sail. What we had to do was put up the mass and make sure thatw every thing is secured.

The second thing that I learned was to steer the boat. When it ws my first time on the boat i noticed it didn’t have any steering wheel. When captain Black pulled down a stick he said this is what you steer with. I was really surprised because i havnt seen a sail boat that didnt h ave a steering wheel. Once it was my turn to steer the boat felt really weird because the waves that were hitting the boat the harder it was to steer it.

The last thing I learned was wild life. On his boat we saw a lot of animals including, porpoises, bald eagels, and sea lions, Porpoises were my favorite animals I saw because the way it was swimming along with the boat. My second favorite animal was the Bald Eagle, because the Eagle represents the United states and the way it hovers above the Ocean water. Sea lions were really cool because it made really loud noises like its telling us to go away.

When I got home I told my mom and dad what i learned on the Foreign Affair which were wild life, steering the boat, and putting up the sail as a team. They were really interested in what I told them about the trip on Adventure Ed.
