Masked Booby, Sula dactylatra
These birds, with a wing span of 68", appear humorously intent on land but are masterful fliers and fishers far out to sea. The male's black facemask and gular sack contrast with bright yellow eyes and bill. They build no nest but hatch their chicks on bare rock or gravel, often right on a human walkway. Chicks appear to be large, awkward sacks of cotton balls and show no fear of humans.
