Editorial Guidelines

The Journeys Corps of Storytellers was created to encourage the sharing of stories by individuals and groups, young and old, amateur and pro, who are passionate about our natural world.

Submissions to the Journeys Corps of Storytellers are placed into a holding queue for approval, and reviewed by Members Story editors for appropriateness of content before being published to the One World Journeys site.

Submissions that will be deemed acceptable by our editors include:

a. stories from people who are connected to the natural world through local community involvement, positive political action, environmental education and world travel, as expressed through art and language.

b. stories that describe or relate an experience with, or connection to, the natural world through activities that involve picturing, learning and exploring our world;

c. stories in which the quality of the writing is of secondary importance to the commitment, the passion and the sincerity of the author. (We encourage youth, speakers of English as a second language, and others who may question their own writing skills to not be afraid of submitting stories. Stories will not be approved based solely on the quality of the writing.)

d. stories by amateur and professional photographers and artists about how and why they illustrate the beauty of our planet or the excitement of a journey in which the creation of nature-themed art was the purpose;

e. poems, haiku, personal journals or other forms of creative writing, by published as well as non-published authors, in which the subject matter involves nature, conservation and the environment;

f. stories that highlight conservation initiatives, environmental education and other programs that promote responsible stewardship of our planet, told from a first person perspective (I, we);

g. stories that are accounts of adventure, eco-, or cultural travel experiences in which a connection with nature was an important element;

h. nature and environment stories that are excerpts from published materials by authors who are the legal copyright holders of said material.
