2) Descend to the Old Town and lose yourself among the bending wooden balconies, cobbled streets, pepper-pot churches. Hunt out the mosque, the synagogue, the 20 meter silver Mother Georgia statue on the hill, the beloved Sioni Cathedral.

3) Take a bath in one of the sulfur baths. Look at the ceiling, sense the ghosts of Tolstoy, Tchaikovsky, Pushkin, Alexander Dumas, Marco Polo, all like you reflecting on their first days here. Remember that 'tbilisi' in Georgian means 'warm springs.' That this experience of relaxation and reflection on the local wildness and beauty was the foundation of the city in the 4th century.

4) Prepare for Day 2.
